BACKGROUND
Originally designed to promote the study of Negro life and history, "Achievement Week" is observed in November of each year to seek out and give due recognition to those individuals at the local and international levels who have made a noteworthy contribution toward improving the quality of life for Black Americans. An International High School Essay Contest is a phase of the International Achievement Week and is held in conjunction with the International Achievement Week Observance period. The essay contest is open to all college-bound high school seniors, and college scholarships are awarded to those contestants who place 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the contest. Each contestant this year must submit an essay on the International High School Essay Contest Topic for 2021 that was announced by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Since 1911, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has made tremendous impacts worldwide standing on a firm foundation consisting of its four Cardinal Principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. The 2021 International Achievement Week Observance period is November 14th through 20th under the theme of "Omega Men Protecting Life and Liberty". The "Mighty" Second District of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., proudly celebrates the many contributions and accomplishments of its many Fraternity brothers and chapters, and the many citizens in the communities we serve. Stay tuned as we feature them in the coming weeks and months.
